Here are a few simple steps to follow to get started.
Create a listing
Step 1: Follow this link to start creating your advertisement
Enter your address and press "Next"
Can't find your address? We use the NZ Post database to look up your property location accurately. If it's a new property, the place may not be on their database yet. Not to worry, please follow this link for instructions.
Step 2: Enter details about your property.
- Choose if you'd like to show your address on your listing (recommended) or hide it.
Please note that we can't advertise your listing on Homes.co.nz if you choose to hide your address.
Next, select your property type (apartment, house etc.) and enter the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, parking situation.
You can select Features to highlight certain aspects of your property, e.g. furnished, garden, pets allowed etc. These features will be displayed before the main text of the advert, so use them as your main "selling points". You can also add a new feature if you don't find one in our list by clicking on "Add another feature."
Then, add Rent and Bond details and the date the property will be available.
If your available date is flexible, select the most advantageous one for you. You can also add a text to the listing description stating that you're open to negotiating a different move-in date.
- Lastly, add the listing Title and Description. The listing Title will be used as a catchy header across all platforms (this is true for all platforms but Trade Me, who use default headers "Location + number of bedrooms", where we display your title as the first line of the description text). Once you've done this, click "Next".
Step 3: Upload photos for your property.
We require at least 5 photos uploaded to advertise.
You can upload photos in batches of 10.
Don't have photos? You can choose to do this later. Click on "Upload photos later" to skip this step. We will save all the details, so you can continue where you left off.
Step 4: Select the advertising package that works for you.
Our default listing is $50+gst and includes adverts on all partners' sites BUT Trade Me and Homes.co.nz. This inlcudes: realestate.co.nz, OneRoof, Trovit, Facebook, myRent.co.nz. Your listing will also be promoted to our tenant database. More about what's covered
You can then choose to add a Trade Me listing. We offer a Premium listing as part of our package for $140+gst. The Premium listing is the best realestate listing you can get on Trade Me, normally only available to agents. It guarantees a much bigger exposure by appearing at the top of search results and top of email alerts to tenants. Learn more about it. The Trade Me upgrade will also include a listing on Homes.co.nz.
You can also choose to upgrade the realestate.co.nz listing to a Feature listing. A feature listing is shown before standard listings with bigger images and highlighted text to generate more interest. This options is avalable for $35+gst.
You can choose to go with a default listing and then add Trade Me upgrade or realestate.co.nz Feature listing upgrade at a later date.
Once you've selected the advertising package, click "Next"
Step 5: Complete payment
You will see the payment page to enter card details to complete your purchase. Once the listing is purchased, you will receive a receipt by email.
