The Residential Tenancies Act 1986 (The Act) is the heart of NZ tenancy law.

The Act outlines the key responsibilities and rights of both tenants and landlords. Although this isn't exactly riveting reading, it’s important that property investors know the basic principles and what it means to them.

myRent was designed to make compliance easier for self-managing landlords. We've incorporated principles of the Act into our system and came up with step-by-step guides to help landlords avoid minor mishaps and costly mistakes (e.g. overlooking unpaid rent, forgetting to lodge a bond, or creating a non-compliant tenancy agreement).

The Tenancy Services website is an excellent resource for landlords and has a lot of good information, handy tools and advice for landlords and tenants. It's definitely a website to tag or bookmark for future use.
