After 4 cases of community transmission in South Auckland were announced, the Government put Auckland back to Level 3 Alert and the rest of New Zealand to Level 2 for 14 days while they're assessing the situation and gathering information to help them make further decisions.
What does it mean to NZ landlords?
REINZ has provided some instructions for the property industry based on what level 3 and level 2 restrictions meant for landlords earlier this year. Tenancy Services has announced that existing Alert Level 2 and 3 guidance remains accurate at present.
Auckland Region:
- Open homes are banned.
- Private viewings are allowed by appointment. Strict social distancing requirements need to be observed.
- Tenants are allowed to move houses.
- It's not clear if there are restrictions on interstate moves.
- It is highly recommended that you wear a mask.
- If you're unwell, stay at home and don't socialise.
- People at high risk of severe illness such as older people and those with existing medical conditions are encouraged to stay at home where possible, and take additional precautions when leaving home.
The Auckland region is everything in the Auckland Council boundary — from Wellsford in the north to Pukekohe in the south.

The rest of New Zealand:

- Tenants are allowed to move houses.
