In the event, your tenant has overpaid and you need to return or have returned the overpayment, you can record a refund in your tenancy by following the steps below.

Use these steps if you self collect rent for your tenancy.

Step 1: Go into your chosen tenancy

Step 2: Go to the Rent page

Step 3: Select the +Add payment button

Step 4: Select the blue Add a rent refund link

Step 5: Select the Date, Tenant, Amount and select Save rent refund

Step 6: You will want to transfer these funds back to the tenant if you haven't already.

Use these steps if your tenancy is opted into hands free rent collection where myRent collects rent.

Step 1: Go into your chosen tenancy

Step 2: Go to the Rent page

Step 3:Scroll down below the rent statement and select the blue Add a rent refund link

Step 4: Select the Date, Tenant, Amount and select Save rent refund

Step 5: You will want to transfer these funds back to the tenant if you haven't already.

The refund created will be reflected on the rent statement.

If the amount being refunded isn't being returned to your tenant as it's being re-allocated as a bill or bond payment then we recommend sending a message under messages on the tenancy that covers what the refund is for so there is a record of it on the tenancy.
